What is a Director ID?
A director ID is a one-time-only identity that a director will apply for and hold for the rest of his or her career, preventing the use of counterfeit or fraudulent director identities. It is a unique number that you will be able to keep forever. Even if you stop being a director it will not be given to another individual.
Who should get it?
- a company
- a registered foreign company
- a registered Australian body
- an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporation
Why?
Getting a Director ID is now mandatory!
Director IDs will improve data authenticity and confidence in knowing who a company’s directors are, resulting in a more equitable corporate climate.
Directors appointed on or before 31 October 2021 have until 30 November 2022 to apply.
